The Level of Care Utilization System for Psychiatric and Addiction Services and the Child and Adolescent Level of Care Utilization System are clinical tools developed by the American Association of Community Psychiatrists. The LOCUS© and CALOCUS© instruments are designed to independently determine level of care recommendations based on information gathered by the professional while performing a clinical assessment. The LOCUS© and CALOCUS© instruments are not intended to supersede a clinical assessment, but designed to support the professional's level of care recommendation. The results of an evaluation can then be used when speaking with managed care providers, utilization review personnel, or third-party administrators to support the professional's level of care recommendation for his or her clients. The essence of the LOCUS©/CALOCUS© assessment system is in its ability to create a moving picture of the client and how the client functions over time. It also eliminates the need to use different tools for the initial assessment, continuing stay or the discharge status of the client. Deerfield Behavioral Health, in cooperation with the AACP, has developed two versions of the LOCUS P.A.S. and C&A LOCUS Software, both based on the LOCUS© and CALOCUS© instruments. The two versions of the LOCUS P.A.S.© and C&A LOCUS© software are named the Reporter Website and Service Manager. Both versions enables a program user to perform a LOCUS© and CALOCUS© assessment quickly and accurately. Although the LOCUS© and CALOCUS© instruments can be completed using a pencil and paper format, the computerized version eliminates the possibility of computational errors and misinterpretation of results that are used to determine level of care. Both the Reporter Website and Service Manager versions of the software can produce an Evaluation Report that can be printed, signed, and added to the patient chart. In addition to performing the assessment, Service Manager has the ability to store all patient, episode of treatment and LOCUS©/CALOCUS© assessment data. This allows for the creation of a wide array of reports that assist the professional or organization to track patient progress and movement within your continuum of care. For more information on the features of the software, please refer to the LOCUS P.A.S. and C&A LOCUS Software page. |
